I was
trying to think of anything to write about and nothing came to my mind. It went
blank. As always happens, when I stopped thinking and wondering about my post,
I found out that there's something I've been worrying about lately: our world.
Life in
this world has always been complicated since HUMANS are part of it. Human
societies are made up by plenty of individuals. Accordingly, diverse needs,
feelings, desires are going to come up. We are supposed to be superior to the
other inhabitants of this world since we can reason and use our intelligence.
However, it seems this world would be much better if humans weren't here. And
this includes me, I know.
Even
when I’m saying this, I try to be positive. I’m hopeful. I want this world to
change. People are selfish, and selfishness is getting worse and worse with
time. People are egocentric. People don’t care about the consequences of their
decisions. As regards this, companies deforesting woods is a very descriptive
example. What about nature in some years? What about the clean air we need? fruits,
vegetables? C’mon Agus, don’t worry about that. TECHNOLOGY will solve our
lives. Machines will create fruits for everybody, don’t worry. I don’t want
technology to control us, though it’s a little too late. People don’t have
dreams, people are depressed and their only aim is to depress the few that
continue dreaming. People are mean, it has always been like that.
I’m not
sure you know this about me, but I don’t believe in God. However, I’m convinced
that there is something somewhere that somehow will change the mind of humans and our
meanness and selfishness will disappear and, our positive values will be
stronger than the negative ones.
I
really hope this happens!
Once
Einstein said:
“The
world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the Evil, but because of the
people that don’t do anything about it.”
Maybe,
we are, deep inside, the ones who have the WILL and the TOOLS to change this
world.

What a caring and positive way of thinking!!!... I agree with EVERTYHING you said and sometimes I stop for a minute and think about the same things you think. There are times when I feel angry about humans because, when I look forward to the future, I realize we are not doing things well. The worst of it is that we seem not to realize about that (at least not yet, but I hope when day we´ll do).
ResponderEliminarIn relation to your comment about life in this world, I want to share a quote which I read once and that made reflect about our lifestyle... The quote says...
"The best proof that there’s intelligent life in outer space is the fact that it hasn’t come here." Sir Arthur.
Interesting to reflect upon, isn't it?
I agree with Sir Arthur.
EliminarWe are part of such a wonderful world!!
PEOPLE are POWERFUL, WE have the power to destroy anything, even our world!
Agustina: Your reflection made me think a lot about the world, but specially the people...
ResponderEliminarYou know? I do believe in God but it happens to me that, as you said, I think people are way too selfish and do care about hurting the ones they "supposedly" love or make believe they love... At least that is what tends to happen to me...
I think that the change is in our hands... But it is not something easy... And it requires time as well... And a lot of effort... =)
We don't have to love every single person in this world. But we don't have the right to hurt people or do whatever we want..
Eliminar"Your rights end when mine begin"
You are absolutely right about that quote you wrote!! (By the way, I meant "people are way too selfish and they do not care about hurting...")
ResponderEliminarIf we all bore in mind people's rights and feelings, even when you do not love everyone, it would, no questions asked, be a better world!!
Unfortunately, I think what you say, Agus, is true. And it's so sad. That's why I love animals, and I certainly prefer my dogs to certain people; so blind and ignorant of the important things in life. I also, like Laura, believe in God because, despite all the negative, there are many marvelous things we don't understand from a human's perspective. It good that from your point of view you are still hopeful of a better scenario for our world!
ResponderEliminarWow Agus, what you have written is actually really true. We human beings are selfish and self-centered by nature. The ones that say that they wouldn´t like a little bit of attention for their own are totally lying. Even I want some kind of attention from time to time. The thing is, as you may know (we´ve been friends since we started studying University), that I´m a really religious person. I go to church, I pray and above all I BELIVE IN GOD, and I´m not ashamed to say it. But I agree with you when you say that there something out there that can make us change. Personally I don´t believe that God has something to do with our change but a special force. And that special force might me our soul telling us that we need to change, otherwise our existence will be worthless.
ResponderEliminarHey Agus! I also agree with you in that humans are mean, selfish, etc. But I do not know whether it would be a better world without us. Maybe the living creatures would suffer less. I don´t doubt about it. But, as the only beings able to reason, who else could accout for the existence and enjoy observing the rest of the spieces, and fantasizing with love, life ,etc? I love living. I´m ashamed of the behaviour of some humans but I prefer to endure.
ResponderEliminarWow, Agustina! 8 comments you have arosed (in this case, it is arosed, isn´t it? Not arose, obviously. Arosed becose it is something successful that springs out of nothing!) with this post. I did not know you did not believe in God. I think that it is a matter of personal decision, so it is O.K. But in my case, I believe in God, because it is the only thing that helps me by reassuring me when I am weak, when I feel deep fear of everything.
ResponderEliminarBEsides, sometimes I have had the inner feeling of the existence of God. I talk about God, and not structured religion. God, an overwhelming presence of love and knowledge who is everywhere, for me. So, I would like you feeling sometimes this loving presence, as I feel it most of the times! It is like a womb where I dip to rest, every day.
